New programs for the further transformation of schools

The “7 Dëshmorët” School in the village of Struma of Roskovec is completely reconstructed according to the most modern standards for the children of the area. The investment of 567 thousand euros is part of the social and environmental investments of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, TAP. About 290 pupils of this school will develop the teaching in very good conditions and with much higher security measures.
TAP’s investment in this school includes the complete reconstruction of the interior and exterior premises of the building. About 2000 m2 of interior space have been reconstructed and also, class furnishing was done. The pupils already have a yard of 2900 m2 that has been transformed into a large recreational park, including athletic and sporting avenues. With the aim of creating a new standard for safety, TAP has also equipped Struma’s school with a fire alarm system and emergency exit ladder.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri, was today present at the inauguration ceremony of the school. There were also present the representatives of TAP and the Municipality of Roskovec.
TAP’s General Director, Luca Shieppati said: “It’s a real honor, a pleasure we have contributed to the reconstruction of this school. We think that educating young people is essential. Being here, with this infrastructure, means being close to people in the community.”
Prime Minister, Rama said that this investment as well as other infrastructural works in the service of communities crossing the pipeline are the result of the negotiations that the government reached with the company.
“This school and a number of other schools as well as other infrastructural works in the service of communities crossing the pipeline are the result of negotiations opened by us since the contract was signed by the previous government where we had inherited only 6 million euros in form the company’s contribution to the community and we managed to negotiate not so easily but in the end the negotiations were successful and well-understood by the other side to raise this fund to over 30 million. Of course, it is a pleasure to look at the results of this important change in the inherited contract, but we certainly want to do much more.
The Prime Minister also said that there will be another program for the further transformation of schools.
“In this first year of the mandate we will focus on the fundamental aspects of national infrastructure as well as another program for further transformation of schools where there is still a lot to be done. I am very pleased that all the children I met starting next year will receive free books, so all primary school pupils will have free books, which will be an important relief to their parents’ budget that can then be used for other things in the benefit of the children. “
