Minister Gjiknuri inspects the water supply and sewerage investments at Gjiri i Lalëzit

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri, accompanied by the director of the National Water Supply and Sewerage Agency Arben Skënderi, inspected the construction site for water supply and sewerage in Gjiri i Lalëzit and the surrounding villages.

Two investment projects are being implemented in this area, which have a value to about 13 million euros, while 30 thousand people benefit. The first project concerns the construction of the main wastewater collector and the Water Treatment Facility used in the tourist area. In this investment will be built the main sewerage collector; mechanical lift collector; 4 pumping stations as well as a plant with a processing capacity of 15,000 inhabitants.

The second project concerns the construction of the water supply network. The water will be taken in the water pipeline coming from the Fushë Kuqja with a capacity of 150 liters / sec. In this investment will be built the main pipeline line; a new water storage facility with a capacity of 1500 m3; the main distribution line from the warehouse to the Gjiri i Lalëzit  area.

“With the completion of this plant, which will be operational in 2019, this whole area will no longer have problems with sewage treatment. We will have a solution with a recent technology, the project being made is among the most contemporary. It really gives a definite solution to the entire area and serves nearly 30,000 residents who will connect to this network. The work is going very well, I had a conversation with the contractors, everything is going according to the plan, “said Minister Gjiknuri.

Further, he focused on the reforms in the drinking water sector and the need to increase the performance of water supply and sewerage companies across the country.

“The Albanian government, in the wake of the action that has started for a good water management system that is connected to the sewerage. What is important is the growth of receipts, the financial soundness of the entire sector, in order to have the necessary investments starting from the areas that have the greatest economic potential, such as tourism priority areas, “Gjiknuri underlined.
