Minister Gjiknuri inspects the axes of Korça-Erseka and Lin-Pogradec

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri, accompanied by the Director of the Albanian Road Authority Afrim Qendro inspected the progress of the works in two of the important sites in Korça Region.

The first stop was on the Korçë-Erseka highway where Minister Gjiknuri announced that the procedures for starting the second Lot of this road will be completed very soon.

“We are at the last part of Korca-Erseka’s first lot. As you can see, here is the end of the road that is about to finish. There is also a section of works that is being developed at the exit of Korça. It is here that there will be a link to the existing network and soon the start of the new project, the second Lot of Korça-Erseka road, where the Municipality of Kolonja will eventually be connected to the national road network.

These works will be completed very soon and I believe next year will be the procedures to start the second part of the road to Kolonja, “said Minister Gjiknuri.

Work is continuing on another site, that of the Lin-Pogradec axis, for which additional funds will be allocated from the re-allocations of this fundraiser.

“Today we are inspecting the works in two lots, the Lin-Pogradec axis and the tunnel at the entrance of the city of Pogradec. In the first lot, we are throwing the last asphalt layer, which will enable the path to be passable with parameters. In the coming year, we will close all the other elements of signaling, lighting, and greening. Here we are talking about, at the Pogradec entrance tunnel, most of the works. We are in the phase of building the part of the columns of this tunnel and we think that the funding that will be given for the coming year will also complete this work, “explained ARA head Afrim Qendro.

Minister Gjiknuri found the opportunity to encourage companies to move forward towards the timely completion of the work.

“On the other hand, I want to assure you that the funding part will not be missing. The Albanian government’s strategy is not to open any roads that are unfinished, but to finish all these works launched for years.

With the funding we will provide, we will close the asphalt and will remain only the part of the tunnel, I believe from the fall of next year we will be able to complete this road. We will finish off the roads, open the roads that are affordable and any projects that will open will be fundable. There will be no longer a project that will remain,” underlined Gjiknuri.
