Gjiknuri at Albcontrol, $ 6 million invested in 4 years for air safety

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri inspected today the investments made in the air control company Albcontrol. During the last four years, the Air Traffic Control Tower has undergone operational improvements, enabling increased security, capacity and quality of services, thanks to investments which worth over $ 6 million.

“It’s an extraordinary progress, I’m glad to hear that Albanian Albcontrol is avant-garde in the region. Hence, compared to other countries there is a very modern technology and offers extremely good services. What is to be noted is that all these investments have come as a result of a good management of this company, but on the other hand, Albcontrol in function of the strategy of the Albanian government to expand airport infrastructure is also being prepared also for the expected developments for the construction of new airports in the country. It means that Albcontrol in parallel with the infrastructure developments will prepare the staff and the appropriate technology and appropriate treatment, ie will be in the necessary capacities in a position that, once Albania has the possibility to have additional airport infrastructure Albcotrol ‘come with its services, “said Minister Gjiknuri.

Albcontrol’s director Belinda Balluku focused on the investments made in this company with a view to guaranteeing European standards for air safety.

“We have just completed the rebuilding of the internal control tower, where three consoles from the most modern ones are currently installed, equipped with new technological equipment to facilitate all the workflow of air traffic controllers. Also, aviation is a field that has progress, so it is a dynamic field that has progress every year. Albania, like all countries in the region, is obliged to meet all the criteria required by the European Union to operate in a safe manner and to offer the required standards, which mainly concern the minimization of delays, we proudly say that Albcontrol offers the service with no delays, “Balluku said.

Over the years, it has become possible to update the Skyline System with which the company operates, which has brought, among other things, the automation of the Control Tower functions, improved coordination and exchange of information as well as data processing. Thanks to the upgrading of this system, the quality and safety of the ups and downs have been improved and delays have been eliminated.

During the investment phase, the Surface Management System is activated, involving the installation of the Ultra HD Video System, located on the surface of the airport, which in the absence of a visual eye view (aggressive atmospheric conditions or unfavorable positions) offers real-time view of movements in the maneuvering area, the possibility of controlling traffic on landing / take-off, as well as in unusual cases. This system has brought significant improvements to the TXW visual control, aircraft location, visual contact during downs / downs, as well as night and bad weather views.

The central roster program (CRS) enables online communication with all users, for any possible request from them, through a personalized help program (PRS), which, besides online operation on the WEB, also exists as a smartphone application (android and iPhone).

During the year 2017, the finalization of the upgrade process for Tirana Tower was completed. Just a few weeks ago, the reconstruction of the tower was completed from an infrastructural point of view. One of the most important investments to improve the operating conditions for air traffic control is the installation of the new Tower Console with enhanced functions designed to optimize the capacity utilization and maximize the security of the service provided.
