Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri was in the electric substation of Lezha where he was closely acquainted with the investments made by the Distribution Operator in the area.
“This substation is constantly overwhelmed but with the interventions made in recent years and with investments it has become possible to eliminate these problems. In addition, in Lezha and its Municipality other investments have been made in the power grid. Overall, about $ 5 million are invested in this direction, “said Gjiknuri.
He guaranteed that investments will continue during this year, with the focus and priority of the tourist area. “The tests that we experienced with the floods and the precipitation of the last months showed that everything performed very well because of the investments we made in the hydropower plant during 2016,” Gjiknuri said.
OSHEE during 2017 invested in the reconstruction and strengthening of the Lezha substation, construction of 45 km medium and low voltage line ABC as well as the construction and reconstruction of 16 new cabins.
Even during this year, OSHEE will invest in further enhancing the security and quality of the city’s power supply by carrying out the reconstruction of Lezha 1 and Vais, 20 kV routers, 35 cabins and ABC lines.
Another planned investment is the reconstruction of the Lezha substation lines by increasing the quality of energy supply for about 50 thousand inhabitants.
Focusing on the sector as a whole, Minister Gjiknuri said that 2018 will be a year of deepening reform.
“The company itself will undergo a further breakdown restructuring within it. Since a year the recovery plan began to yield, including the repayment of many old debts and old financial holes created in the sector during the crisis years. Suffice it to say that electricity is no longer in the focus of the crisis as it was until 2013. This is an indication of what giant steps have been made in this sector compared to where we started and where we are now. Understandably, there is still much work to be done. Investments will not be missing, but better management is needed from staff here, especially to combat illegal immigration, “Gjiknuri insisted.
