Gjiknuri and Ahmetaj inspect the Qukës-Qafë Plloçë construction site

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri, accompanied by Minister of Finance and Economy Arben Ahmetaj, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla and MP Eduard Shalsi inspected today the construction site of the Qukës-Qafë Plloçë road project, 40 kilometers long.

They were closely acquainted with the current performance of the project in its implementation phase and the problems that have been associated in the past years. Field work is continuing with intensity in the 3 Lotes, whereas in total it is estimated that over 50% have been completed. Minister Gjiknuri emphasized that in 2019 this infrastructure work would have ended up turning into an important artery for the southeastern area.
“It has been one of those projects inherited with many problems but is entering the path of solution. It is an important, difficult segment, on a very difficult terrain. Companies are doing a very good job and solving the remaining project problems, and I believe this road will be functional in 2019 completing this important segment by approaching Korça with Tirana and the rest of Albania. In our philosophy stands what we have stated, that we have to finish all the projects started. Unfortunately, although it has been said that they have begun, they have never been fully funded. At the same time, we will open those segments that complete the arteries of the country, “said Minister Gjiknuri.
Going beyond the concrete project, Minister of Finance and Economy, Arben Ahmetaj, guaranteed that the government already has a clear plan in the mid-term budget that creates fiscal space for massive investment in infrastructure without compromising stability.
Present during the on-site inspection, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, reminded that until 2013 nothing was accomplished in this project.
MP Eduard Shalsi also noted the increased pace of work in this segment over the last months.
