Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Dorina Çinari was present at the opening ceremony of “Energy Expo & Forum 2017” organized by Expocity Albania in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the Municipality of Tirana.

The forum will focus on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, where all actors in the electricity market will present their products and services.

During the occasion of the ceremony, Deputy Minister Çinari emphasized the energy sector and said that it will be in the focus of the government agenda for the years 2017-2020. “What we aim is the further development of the power sector by consolidating financial, operational and technical sustainability with the aim of meeting the growing demand for domestic energy, having as a priority the integration of the domestic energy market in the regional and European markets and reducing dependence on imports, “Çinari underlined.

Focusing on the deepening of reform and the continuation of investment programs, Çinari said that in the next four years the government and the Ministry plan to invest 170 million euros in strengthening public sector generating capacity.

“The supply of electricity with no restriction and quality will be guaranteed from the network of new industrial facilities. An investment of about EUR 520 million is expected to be realized in the distribution system. The bulk of these investments are expected to be covered by the company’s own funds. Part of this investment package will be projects with the World Bank “said Çinari.

Deputy Minister Çinari also focused on promoting energy from renewable sources to ensure sustainable development in order to diversify resources.

“In the renewable energy sector, the expected investments in the generation of solar power generation plants are around 150 million euros, with up to 2020 installed about 50 mW at regulated tariffs. From wind power sources, the expected investments will be close to about 60 million euros, by 2020, 30 mW will be installed at regulated tariffs.
