Energy efficiency in Qyteti Studenti buildings, Germany provides 6.5m euros more

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri, Minister of Finance and Economy Arben Ahmetaj, German Ambassador in Tirana Susanne Schutz, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj and kfW representative signed today a new agreement under the Renovation of Dormitory Program at the University Campus of Tirana with the principle of Efficiency.

The financial value provided in the form of a grant from the German government in this agreement amounts to 6.5m euros, while the current project is currently in the implementation stage at the value of 9m euros.

“It is a pleasure to be in this activity together with representatives of KfW regarding the signing of the continuation of a very important project in the energy field. One of the elements that we have promoted is how to save electricity by improving efficiency, and the German government, actually, between KfW has been the first pioneer to provide us with the necessary support, bringing a nearly 15m-euro investment package, the largest of this kind, “said Minister Gjiknuri.
Considering the benefits that we will get from implementation, he continued, we will try to include such a project in all other government buildings. “This is the advantage. So, to encourage energy-efficient industry and all the investments that will be made in Albania, especially those that have state funding, should be designed and built from the standpoint of energy efficiency, “Gjiknuri underlined.

These investments are making it possible for students to have much better conditions, but at the same time the enterprise in question that is a state asset will save money on electricity consumption.
