Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri and Mayor Vangjush Dako visited the Port of Durrës. They looked closely at the passenger terminal as they conducted a conversation with Port Executives on development potentials.

“We are doing an inspection at the Port of Durrës, in order to see how the terminals that the public knows are given in concession, in some cases are critical and we do not have to hide it. We are here because the Port of Durrës will have two very interesting developments. First, this year we will begin the highly anticipated project of deepening and expansion of the Port, which means there will be more space for activities. On the other hand, we have begun discussions about the possibility that the Port of Durrës turns into a Mediterranean cruise destination “underlined Minister Gjiknuri.

Further, he clarified that Port Authority has taken the appropriate steps to apply to donors and banks in finding funding that will enable the further development of the Port.

“The port authority has also applied for funding at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development where it has been seen with many funding priorities. I am convinced that the combination of these funds with the increased interest of the croppers will have a greater economic growth for the port and the whole city. The port has generally had economic growth, so volumes have been added. Investments in the road network or even the investments we will make on the rail will definitely increase the interest of the Port of Durrës and will increase the connectivity where the Port does not have to serve only Albania but also other countries in the region, “said Gjiknuri.
