Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri accompanied by the directors of the Albanian Road Authority and the Central Technical and Industrial Inspectorate held today a meeting with the main representatives of the fuel trading operators.
Minister Gjiknuri informed the operators of the measures that the government is undertaking in the framework of increasing road safety in the country. “We have begun work on the removal of any illegal object that is in violation of the Road Code. They are mostly tables, structures or advertisements that hinder the visibility while moving vehicles and often become sources of accidents. Of course, one of the most problematic issues inherited was fuel, despite measures taken during the first 4 years, sometimes unsuccessful by the past Ministry, and I have to say that. One problem that needs to be resolved soon is that of very large billboards where brands are listed and fuel prices are listed. Often these tables confuse car drivers and become sources of accidents, “said Gjiknuri.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy agreed with the operators to establish a joint working group that will set a new standard of fuel and lighting advertising at night in accordance with the Road Code.
“The Ministry with the Road Authority will set up a working group with representatives of operators to set a standard. This should be uniform for everyone and definitely not affect unfair competition. You are the main operators, hence I called you for cooperation and I ask for you to find a quick solution to this problem. Otherwise, we are obliged to intervene legally. I prefer the dialogue and the solution with understanding, to work together to give a permanent solution according to legal standards to this problem, “Gjiknuri underlined.
